Sandy Rubright, instructor and facilitator, will engage each individual with the basic elements of proper singing through fun songs, games, and teamwork.

In Glenn's upbringing, the world was changing and art was changing with it. Glenn will dissect some of the musicals of the '60s and '70s that took major leaps from classic musical theatre into tougher subject matter. Participants will learn that when the normative barriers of Broadway were broken, we were given some of the best show-stopping numbers of our time.

Glenn Rosenblum is a busy celebrity talent broker, lecturer, vocalist, actor, and musical mensch. He holds a bachelor of arts degree in theatre from the School of Theatre, Film, and Television at UCLA and has attended the School of Dramatic Arts at USC and the New College at Hofstra University. BroadwayWorld.com called him the “New Prince of Los Angeles Cabaret” in his new one-man cabaret show, The Musical Man. He has been seen regionally on stage in musicals including Cabaret (Emcee), Guys and Dolls (Nathan Detroit), Man of La Mancha (Barber), and Little Shop of Horrors (Seymour). He also played himself in Annabelle Gurwitch’s hit comedy Fired!, recorded for National Public Radio at Los Angeles Theatre Works. His off-Broadway credits include Lucky Lucy and the Fortune Man starring Blythe Danner, Little Mighty with Sam Harris, and Rise of David Levinksy featuring Larry Kert. Glenn’s television work includes an Old Navy commercial with Kristin Chenoweth, as well as episodic turns on the series Bones and Miami Vice. His passion for and obsession with Broadway’s musical theatre has led him globe-trotting with Crystal Cruises as a guest lecturer. 

This film series presents five films about whales: Moby Dick, Free Willy, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Whale Rider, and the documentary Big Miracle. Each film offers a different take on whales, from Captain Ahab’s hatred of Moby Dick to the bond between a boy and a whale in Free Willy and the efforts of a community working together to free whales trapped in Arctic ice in Big Miracle.

Based on Herman Melville’s classic novel, this film follows Captain Ahab’s consuming obsession and quest for revenge. Gregory Peck stars in the lead role, with a supporting cast that includes Richard Basehart, Orson Welles, Leo Genn, and James Justice. Directed by John Huston, this version is a colorized restoration of the original MGM film.

A 12-year-old orphan befriends a captive orca at a theme park and sets out to return him to his pod. This film stars Jason James Richter, Lori Petty, Jayne Atkinson, August Schellenberg, and Keiko as Willy. The theme music was composed by Michael Jackson. Directed by Simon Wincer (1993).

In the 23rd century, an alien probe arrives at Earth searching for humpback whales. With the species extinct, no response is possible, and the probe begins to threaten the planet. In this film the crew of the Starship Enterprise travels back in time to 1986 San Francisco to bring whales forward to their own time and save Earth. Starring William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, and the rest of the original Star Trek bridge crew.

In this film, a Maori village in New Zealand faces a crisis when its only male heir dies, leaving no traditional successor to lead the tribe. His young daughter, Pai, challenges long-held traditions and seeks to prove herself worthy of leadership by learning the ways of the whale rider.

This film tells the story of the 1988 rescue of a pod of gray whales trapped beneath Arctic ice. Greenpeace volunteers, local villagers, and even rival nations come together in an effort to free them. Directed by Ken Kwapis, the film stars Drew Barrymore, Ted Danson, Andy Daly, and John Krasinski, and is based on the 1989 book of the same name.

Participants will enjoy an exclusive private tour of the historic Fulton Theatre, offering a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s oldest continuously operating theatres. During the experience, participants will learn about the theatre’s rich history, architectural significance, and important role in the local arts community. The tour will also provide insight into the creative and operational processes that bring each production to life, highlighting the collaboration between performers, directors, designers, technicians, and administrative staff. Participants will have the opportunity to explore several areas of the theatre, including the stage, rehearsal spaces, costume and set areas, and backstage facilities, when available. This unique experience offers an engaging look into both the history and day-to-day operations of a working professional theatre.
