Starting with the cacao tree, Theobroma cacao, learn how cacao is grown and harvested in tropical locations like South America, West Africa, and Indonesia. Explore how cocoa beans are converted into chocolate and then marketed by leading confectionery companies around the world. The course will end by discussing efforts to sustain cacao farming and the resulting chocolate for generations to come. During the course you will have the opportunity to taste a variety of chocolate products. Course fee includes $3 for chocolate samples.

Come prepared to work with typical kitchen tools and equipment. Drinks are not provided although you can purchase them downstairs at Leg Up Farmers Market. You can also bring your own from home.
