The poet Mary Oliver posed the question, “Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?” Are you facing a life transition as someone approaching retirement, as a retired person, or as someone needing to (finally) change careers? All of these situations are dominated by two things, the need for action and the confidence to overcome the uncertainty that comes with life transitions. Come learn how the practices used in design thinking and entrepreneurship can allow you to embrace the transition you are facing in order to create the plan for your wild and precious life.

Explore the world of assistance dogs with a Susquehanna Service Dogs Ambassador Team. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the journey of an assistance dog from puppyhood to placement and gain an understanding of how assistance dogs help individuals with disabilities live the lives they want to live. The instructor will be accompanied by a trained ambassador dog and will demonstrate the types of tasks dogs can be trained to perform. There will also be a Q&A session and an opportunity to meet the dog.

This course will introduce participants to the York County Solid Waste Authority (YCSWA) and its role in managing York County's trash. YCSWA is not a waste hauler but rather provides the infrastructure and programs for the municipalities of York County to sustainably manage their trash. The most visible component of YCSWA is its waste-to-energy facility located on Blackbridge Road, the Resource Recovery Center (RRC). It is here that the county's trash is used as an alternative fuel to produce electricity.
